Lilly Casanova, 40, Ramon Gonzalez, 24, and Nathan Gonzalez, 20, were arrested early Tuesday morning after police raided their home on White Street, Springfield police said.

Springfield police received a tip that a 12-year-old had boasted about having access to guns and was planning on bringing one of them to school. Officers contacted the student's mom, Casanova, who told them the child did not have access to any weapons. However, she would not allow officers in her home without a warrant to verify that. authorities said.

This is a rare occurrence as police said they cannot remember a time when a parent denied officers a search of their home after their child had made a threat to shoot up a school, police said.

Police received a search warrant for the home on March 14 and executed it later that day.

Officers found a firearm loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition and an additional 15-round magazine loaded with 13 rounds, police said. They found a second loaded gun with five rounds of ammo, another high-capacity magazine, and 81 rounds of various bullets, authorities continued.

Ramon Gonzalez and Nathan Gonzalez were also arrested when police went to the home on Tuesday morning.

Casanova is charged with:

  • Possession of a large-capacity firearm (three counts)
  • Possession of ammunition without an FID card
  • Improper storage of a large-capacity firearm near a minor
